How long does it take to learn to fly a plane?

    My guess, a few minutes. Learning to take off, navigate, interpret the the instruments and landing I'm sure would take much longer.

    I googled one of the flight schools and they say 'learn to fly.. we have 25 years of flight experience', so therefore, it must take a long time.

    I'm just interested in the take off and landing part incase there is an emergency.  I watched a hero pilot documentary today and it is important to know, just in case.

    Learning on a simulated airplane would be fun. Kinda like a video game but more serious.
