They LOVED me hugely all the times I got pregnant... And almost able to tell me, even before I knew myself.

Interesting - I wonder if your tummy was warmer than usual.

A friend once told me his mother reckoned when she was carrying him, a cat tried to curl up on her bump, he kicked, cat fled; he claims in jest that that explains why he was never a cat-lover!

Lol. I'm not sure but have heard cats should have the sense when we are pregnant, just like how they sense cat haters, and MUST convince them how gorgeous they are. :-)

Lovely! I doubt very much that cats can possibly know when a human is pregnant, and of course my friend would not have been a cat-hater pre-birth. His kicking was perhaps have been a reaction to the unfamiliar pressure, especially if puss had gone for the usual feline habit of going round in circles padding down the chosen spot to make it comfy.

I speak from some (though not all!) experience: GF's cat, bounding in from the wet lawn, leaping onto sofa arm thence onto Durdle's lap, pad-pad-pad-pad round-and-round and never mind treading on what as long as it makes a good bed, curling up and drying soggy fur by using my clothes as a blotter. While purring no doubt in approving of my bodily warmth and softness.

    Errr, I like cats!

I read,(from a cat expert), that cats spend 25% of their time grooming away our smell.

  • They may love us, but we stink.

  • My one cat will immediatly bathe after petting him. So, I would take that as a "no".

  • Nope.  They like everything to smell like stale urine.

When cats rub up against you they are marking you with their own scent. Once they have done that, we smell fine to them.

(What does it mean when you rub all up against me?)

It means you're dreaming again and it's time to wake up.

Wait, why would I want to wake up from that?  (Silly woman.)

Not sure whether they "like" it, or indeed if we can even determine if they do;  but I expect they use it for recognition.

What the heck are you talking about?  I thought you didn't like it when others post comments like that?

I agree. That's a pretty vulgar comment to make.

I realize people say that as a joke, but it is a rather distasteful thing to say nonetheless.
