With all the music talk of Super Bowl 2022, why have I heard no one mention my favorite 2022 Bowl Music?

At the very beginning, Jhene Aiko singing "America the Beautiful"

I was stunned in awe.
Gorgeous.

(Granted, I may not have heard anyone mention anything because I don't always listen well.)

I didn't see any of it. I found a video of the above-mentioned. Not my favorite kind of voice, but she has talent.

I love the simplicity of the arrangement, her unassuming singing delivery and a single harp as accompaniment

I'm listening now for the second time (I looked it up) - - I still love it. I've not heard of Aiko  :)

    I tell you - - I often don't fit in this world.

I'm glad you answered, thanks, SavvyAnsley. I enjoy your presence here,   :)

The picture you posted isn't the girl who sang the National Anthem.  I saw a clip of that today.  I don't know who that is in the picture.

I read the OP as National Anthem.  I didn't watch any of the game but the girl who sang the National Anthem was wonderful; I saw a clip of her on the news yesterday.  Sorry.  Sometimes my eyes read what they wanted it to say I guess.....

I went back to listen to this one (America The Beautiful).  It was OK, but nothing like the NA (in my little opinion).  :)

I agree.  Very few singers do the National Anthem well (in my opinion).  Whitney Houston had them all beat.

I really like Aiko's singing. Had never heard her before.
I liked her unassuming quality, among other things about which I mentioned under SavvyAnsley's answer.
Thanks for chiming in on my question!  :)

What I don't understand is how so many people raved about the woman who sang the Star Spangled Banner.  I thought she was awful - way too many flat notes and I hate it when they riff.  The national anthem should be sung the way it was written - it's not a jazz piece.

The absolute best rendition of the Star Spangled Banner was by Whitney Houston.

    :)
I liked Guyton's version the other night. I don't remember a lot riffing or flat notes but I believe you -- I remember liking her tone quality and I was more listening to her voice tone as she sang. But I still have no desire to listen to her again.
I much more preferred Aiko, though. I've gone back and listened a couple of times since Sunday.  :)

And, for me there is simply no none like Houston singing anything. She could sing the "ABC Song" and leave me breathless. Boy, I miss her.

And, no surprise (since I was the one who posted the question, ha) -- I still really liked best Aiko as far as Bowl music.  :)

    Thanks for answering!

As with everything else, everyone sees/hears/appreciates things differently.  When it comes to the national anthem, I guess I'm just a purist. :)

And I was so immediately drawn to her tone quality, I may have missed the things you mentioned. And with the Star Spangled Banner, I'm with you - - I generally don't like long riffs/ etc. "Please just sing it without overly showing off." :) This post was edited by WelbyQuentin at February 17, 2022 10:01 PM MST

She and the other lady who did the Star Spangled Banner also did very well.  These  two songs are usually only heard about when the singer messes it up.

I had not heard of either of them before.

I had not heard either of them before, either. I liked both of them.
    I most liked Aiko, though.
    Thanks for answering.  :)
