Why are cup holders in vehicles not adjustable?

Sometimes it would be nice to travel with a glass in a deep enough cup holder so it won't spill when you go around a corner.

    In the past they had the holders that clipped between the window and the door. Some of those were adjustable. I'll bet you can still buy them.

    My to go thermal coffee cup is tall and thinner than most.  I love my cup and always have a terrible time when driving.  Sometimes I stuff napkins around it to hold it place.

      Some vehicle models have them in adjustable versions. I own a Subaru Forrester that has a single/dual option in the console between the front seats, you merely remove the separater thingy and two become one.

    You could of course take the simple way out: don't drive with any liquid in the open cup! :-)
