Have you ever experienced a feeling of total aloneness?

It is a gripping feeling.  I'm missing having a husband, someone by my side.

I have - but in that kind of solitude I can sometimes hear that "still, small voice" a bit more clearly. God is always near.
That said, loneliness is the one thing in this world that I'm terrified of.

It caught me by surprise, on holiday in the south of France. I was 19 and found myself sitting on a porch with no idea what the next few days would bring and no one I knew for a thousand miles around me - it made me feel like weeping, though I didn't.

A year or two later, I would become the sort of student who, when not attending classes, was happy leaving the apartment no more than once a week.

I have come to think of them as necessary stages :)

Not for everyone in the same way, of course. But that's how we all draw our own maps through life.

Sounds like you planned every single thing.

Hah, thanks, but I end up looking like a fool each time I try! It's just the way things progressed.
