What if you’re on the fence as to whether you should go for the chain link kind or the picket kind?

I'd rather ride a picket fence than a chain link fence, if I'm going to ride the fence on what kind of fence.

I'm gong to answer this in a serious manner.  It depends on the character of the house itself.  I have seen picket fences on the most rundown homes and they look foolish.  Clearly, that type of house calls for a chain link fence.

I'd be willing to bet that the cost of renovation would be prohibitive, but the shape and the bones of this house are beautiful.

Yes, I imagine it would! I can't imagine being brave enough to take on something like that unless I were very wealthy!

I agree.  Unless the structure is extremely sound, it probably wouldn't pay to put in that kind of money.  It is a beautiful house, though.

Of course there's a basement!  I would definitely go with the picket fence for this house.

Meh, for those few incidents where some of them manage to make it out of the sub-basement, wrought iron isn’t the best choice for perimeter fortifications. Grrrrrrr.

I don't have to think at all -- I'll go with Pickett, for sure.
