I don’t know why not, it’s a common verbal exchange between people. Do you see it as cruel?
“I have good news and bad news; which do you want to hear first?”
It could even be something as benign as “the bad news is that I won’t be able to sit in the audience to watch your poetry recital because the good news is that I have been selected to play the piano in accompaniment while you speak!”

Neither. I was just using that as an example or analogy to make my point, I’m not referring to myself as being the one adept at the percussion instrument. I have zero musical ability/talent whatsoever, I cannot sing nor play.
