Why do people rely on fake news sources as facts?

Do they not know better? Are they uneducated? I know many are educated, so what is their excuse? They do recognize and understand the different types of writing. So why?

    Stupid people do not think.

This is good enough for them.  They think everyone does this.  And, unfortunately, with the swelling of idiots being born daily, they are right.  More and more people celebrate not thinking and are being rewarded for it.
