I have no idea. I don't remember kink in the cartoon movie.

But I have no desire to see a live version anyway.

The only thing I liked about the animated "The Little Mermaid" film was Pat Carroll's superlative-to-me performance as 'Ursula,' the Sea Witch.

I would much more like to see a version of the tale withe the original story -- with the mermaid dying at the end while she saves her human love. And then she becomes a spirit in the sky. That is beyond beautiful to me.  :)

I was fortunate to see an original ballet version with the real story.

The only "kink" I know of from the original was on the original VHS case picture....in the castle. It is now a collectors item.  But I also do not remember anything in the movie itself.

None of Disney's movies follow the real story. I did not know that happened in the actual story.  :)

I had no idea about the VHS case. Ha.

Yeah, the original story is moving to me.

I missed seeing your reply until now, woops.
