    Depends on the circumstances: Is someone waiting for a diagnosis, being ghosted, waiting to hear personally from a loved one, waiting to see someone or waiting for a potential lay off.

    Perhaps a person want's to keep something private in order to allay any anxiety for her family, especially one family member.

    It can be true (especially rather than creating based-on-nothing illogical scenarios that cause anxiety to one's self).
