  • Get the government out of all marriage.   It has no place in an antiquated cultural ceremony mostly designed to ensure women had a place to live when they were considered chattel.

Actually, I'm in Texas and after the SCOTUS ruling on gay marriage, our legislature almost unanimously (all but one vote) passed a law formally recognizing the right of clergy to perform or deny gay marriages of their own free will.

So I doubt that will be the case, certainly hasn't stopped them yet. This post was edited by ForkNdaRoad at November 9, 2016 4:55 PM MST

    Hello F:

    Yet, is the key word..

From NOW on, though, Trump OWNS the congress.  And in short order, he'll OWN the Supreme Court.  Now, I'm just guessing, that NOBODY in that group thinks gay marriage should be mandated by the federal government..  Therefore, I SUGGEST that it will go the way of the Do Do Bird..  Maybe, just maybe, it'll be reserved to the states rather than be outlawed altogether.

Oh, yeah..  If you want an abortion, stock up on coat hangers...

I think there is a small minority of voters who believe both gay marriage and likely gay people should be banned outright, I just don't think that is a widely popular sentiment, well... anywhere. lol

I think for many cons, they simply want an opt out for their church / pastor etc. Were the rest of the states to pass a similar law to ours, I suspect the fight would be over for all but the fringe few who struggle with the idea of anyone existing outside the confines of their rigid beliefs. lol
