If you already knew, then why would you even be asking the question?

For another viewpoint, additional information, possibility of something missed you are unaware of or maybe you just want to talk about it.

Getting different perspectives lets you know that not everybody thinks the same as you. This is true for answers requiring an opinion of some sort. Not a question that's factual. Either an answer is wrong or it's right in that case.

Got to make other people feel like they're useful. (and yet they still get the answer wrong).

So as not to act as if you think you know everything even if you do.

Some people are just trolling.
