Do you want to thank Thomas Newman with me for these two minutes of wondrous musical serenity?



Serene to me, at least.  :)



 -- from Newman's music score to the movie "Road to Perdition"

 -- I went to see the movie because I knew Newman had written the music and that Jude Law was in the movie.


My entire being "stopped' in wonderful silence when this music occurred:



"The Farm"      (yes, two characters arrive at a farm)       anytime I listen to Newman's score, my soul rests at 'the farm'

    Dead-on correct you are. "Ain't that the truth?"   For sure. :)


    I love the music to this movie, though and I can disassociate from the movie. 

    The same with "The Shawshank Redemption" -- Thomas Newman wrote the music to that one, too. I've only seen "The Shawshank Redemption" three times but I've listened to Newman's music  soundtrack to that movie literally hundreds of times.
    I love the music but the movie, too many times. is too emotionally uncomfortable and upsetting for me to watch the movie itself.

    Thanks for giving "The Farm" a listen. :)

    But the journey to the ending contains too many difficult-for-me moments and scenes.

    (Yet, I quite like many horror movies. I am one Walking Paradox.)

    As far as music from Paul Newman's films, I prefer the ragtime strains of The Sting.

    And Joplin never intend for most of his music to be played that fast.

    But I really like Joplin's music, too.

    I listen to Thomas Newman's music more, though. :)

    Paul just happened to appear in one of Thomas-scored movies. Ha.

    This one of my favorite pieces ever, Rubinstein seems to be my favorite playing this, his touch and expression is different than others.  I bought the music many years ago and started to learn it, then life happened...not sure I even have the music any longer. This is way beyond my ability but that is how I learned to play the piano through learning pieces that were very difficult then sticking with it until I learned, if not all, but the parts I really liked.  This version is not the best of Rubinstein, the piano he is playing has some issues and the recording could be much better.  If I find a better version I'll post it.
