No idea without knowing who it was and the bill.

    HR 7909

158 Dems voted against it.  No Reps votes against it.   Passed the House..

What Thrifty said. Are you being deliberately vague to cloud the issue?

No. I am vague figuring people can search it themselves rather than just taking the opposite position I take.

Okay, I've read it. It duplicates existing law, which is why they opposed it - it's unnecessary and is being used to demonize immigrants.
The lack of a waiver clause is cause for concern. My son-in-law was convicted of DV because he grabbed his ex-partner's arms, bruising her wrists - to stop her from continuing to lay into him, she'd broken his nose and knocked a tooth out. Everything depends, there can be extenuating circumstances.

Does not duplicate existing law.  The existing does not say abusers must be deported/not allowed re-entry.   It simply says any crime can be used as a reason for deportation. No demonization at all....if you do not abuse people you will not be subject to this law.
