    Based on the information you have provided; I'll go with "The Banjo," very distinctive sound.

    I can identify most of the common ones.  Not sure I could tell the difference between a piccolo and a flute.

    I mistook the sound of a trumpet for that of a saxophone once. At least admitting to my mistake led to a free drink from a sympathetic bartender.

    Miss understood your question, get it now. Believe I could identify most instruments but agree with Spunky, the piccolo might be a challenge.  However the piccolo has a certain sharp sound quality the flute does not have. I used two own a very old piccolo, that's what  base my opinion on.

    Many of them but would never claim to be able to ID every single instrument.  I imagine there are more I do not know than do if we're talking about instruments used around the world.
