Are Answermuggers like yourselves in politics very tough and sane or not because of the inner bickering, politics can ruin your life. Right?

Politics can negatively impact people's mental health and overall well-being due to various factors like stress, political polarization, and the perception of political corruption. These negative impacts can manifest as anxiety, depression, sleep disturbances, and even suicidal thoughts. Additionally, the constant engagement with political news and debates can lead to increased stress and a sense of helplessness.

Whatever we focus on (politics, religion, news, music, TV, movies, books, podcasts, videos, nature, etc.) shapes our lives and affects our mental health.  The key is to walk away from anything that we find negatively affecting us.  Oftentimes this is easier said than done.  Sometimes we get so caught up in our opinion that our stance on politics is the only/correct one, that we end up straining relationships.  Unfortunately, this can cause damage to friendships, marriages, and even seperate families.  More often than not this damage ends up being irreparable (and we live in regret or denial of it).

Just like everyone else, when it comes to politics I have my own opinion.  As hard as it is, I strive to refrain from overstating my position, although sometimes I just have to say something (we're all opinionated).  Many times, instead of speaking or posting my opinions, I will simply write them down and then erase them.  I find that this relieves my stress/frustrations while not harming/offending others.  Sometimes I simply walk away from it all (go outside, listen to soothing music, clean the house, etc.).

Going ad hoc. Nuts bolts of it. One common interest like chess..next leads to louder and louder argument about better Dems or Repubs and then it's whole nine yards of the  entrapment game like talking Adam and Eve onto a secular scientist. Not to last. Maybe it's due to provincialism or what not but you are definitely your upbringing. You use politics as a tool to have a higher cause like the church to feel belonging. I can suck but he was worse ok? Besides, what a 32 year old guy doing hanging out with a 65 year older. You can have an existential nightmare. It's terrible if it is. Truth is a big variable and doesn't land anywhere! Don't tell me..CRUNCH This post was edited by CosmicWunderkind at May 10, 2025 9:59 AM MDT

As a mugger into politics, I am secure in my beliefs and positions.  Those who disagree do not effect my sleep, or cause any other issues in my life.

Hearing the other sides opinions is good to help know both sides and confirm if your position is correct.   If both sides can simply discuss the issues and not resort to childish  name calling etc.
