I visited an English friend in the south of England. I liked the town very much. It was very charming and much more peaceful than I am used to. I suppose there are parts of the country though, that have more poverty or crime. And from what I have seen, London is much like any big city here.
BTW, I enjoy your questions, Franc.

This! There are some beautiful areas in the UK, and others you might be better off avoiding. I live in a city that was once ranked the most dangerous in Europe, yet I don’t personally feel unsafe here.
In the UK, just 262 people were killed by 'sharp implements' in the year to March 2024. Meanwhile, in the US, over 16,000 people were shot dead due to firearms offences (not counting suicides). So, statistically speaking, you're much more likely to get a bullet in the US than a stab wound in the UK.
