Do you smell anything fishy about Trump’s claim about sinking a drug boat near Venezuela?

What I find fishy is his claim that there were 11 smugglers on board.

Most drug busts at sea involve a small to medium sized craft manned by a couple of people. The second one is usually there to throw the drugs overboard if necessary. So I think Trump made the whole thing up or exaggerated the numbers. And he murdered 11 people.
Cheers!

Yes, this would seem to be fishy.  This is also not the first time deaths occurred under a mission gre-lighted by Trump.

"In September 2025, The New York Times reported that a covert US Navy SEAL operation on North Korea’s coast in 2019 killed several civilians and ended in failure. According to current and former officials cited by the paper, SEAL Team 6’s Red Squadron—known for high-risk missions including the 2011 raid on Osama bin Laden—was tasked with secretly planting a listening device to intercept Kim Jong-un’s communications. Instead, the mission collapsed after an encounter with local fishermen turned deadly, leaving no intelligence gained and a trail of questions about oversight and accountability.

Eight operators from SEAL Team 6’s Red Squadron were selected for their skill in underwater infiltration. ... Their orders were to swim ashore, emplace the device near a North Korean communications hub, and return undetected.

According to the account, the SEALs ran into unexpected trouble before reaching their objective. While navigating inshore waters, they encountered a small North Korean fishing vessel carrying what officials later described as civilians—likely shellfish divers or fishermen working at night.  Believing discovery would compromise the mission and potentially endanger their lives, the SEALs opened fire, killing all on board.

The mission required presidential approval because of its risks. Multiple officials quoted in The Times said Trump signed off, considering the intelligence payoff worth the gamble. But after the September 2025 revelations, ABC News recorded Trump flatly denying knowledge, telling reporters, “I know nothing about it.”

That part about the fishermen is horrible. And it makes this latest one smell even more fishy. Trump sent 3 war ships - a Fast attack nuclear sub and a Reconnaissance ship to Venezuela. So I can see him blowing up a lot more boats just to say – he is winning the drug war – even if he has to murder a bunch of innocent people. Cheers!

I was horrified when I read about those fishermen.  i don't know where Trump thinks he gets the authority for this wanton, murderous behavior.  Even if these people were drug traffickers or criminals, Trump doesn't get to be judge, jury and executioner.  If we have one ally left in the world at the end of his term, we will be lucky.

Even the Venezuelan gov is not denying it was the naro terrorists ,Tren de Aragua, on the boat full of drugs.  They have even reported there were two other boats with drugs that were not hit.

We will get them next time. This post was edited by my2cents at September 10, 2025 5:59 AM MDT

The Venezuelan government just sent an additional 25.000 troops to their border so I don’t think they are on board with Trump. Those 11 people on the boat might have been drug smuglers - but they didn’t deserve to be sent to a watery grave and not given the right of a trial. For all we know they weren't even giving any warning shots and a chance to surrender – they were just blow up. Cheers!

Of course, the Drug dealing President of Venezuela is not happy with the US over the narco terrorists being blown up.

Funny one on the left cared when Obama droned terrorists.  They only care if Trump’s name is attached to any action.

No, I do not believe there was a warning shot or chance for surrender either. This post was edited by my2cents at September 10, 2025 7:54 PM MDT
