Has your summertime fun come to an end?

Today they had a Rock the Plaza festival in down town Parksville.

It was pretty groovy but also a little sad because it was the closing event for the Parksville Beach Festival. I have been having a lot of summertime fun for the past 3 months but now the only thing left to do in Parksville is shop.

I do need new fall and winter out fits plus were getting a new Dollar Rama store in October so I guess its not so bad.

Cheers and happy weekend

Thought I would add that when they played the YMCA song I figured it was time to go.

But I’m glad I didn’t because it was a delight seeing people dancing to it the way it was ment to be danced to – same with the Macarena there is only one way to dance to it.

If I had to teach a blind person how to do Trump’s YMCA dance it would be like this – now smirk - now smirk - now smirk smirk smirk smirk. Now thumb – now thumb - now thumb thumb thumb. Now hip – now hip – now hip hip hip - don’t forget there is lots of it - now hip – now hip – now hip hip hip.
    Cheers and happy weekend!

I was just thinking that I was kidding myself in thinking that I could teach a blind person how to do Trump’s YMCA dance - with just a few words.
So I would have to tell the blind person that to master the dance they would have to feel my face. Then when they go to feel my face I would pull the old “I got your nose” trick on them. And because they are blind they wouldn’t be able to see it was just my thumb – then they would fully get Trump’s dance – he would steal the nose from a blind person and never give it back.
Then if they learn’t my lessons well they would say – now wait a minuet you know I can dance. Cheers!

I'm thinking that there are a lot of folks who won't be going to the beach now.  For one thing, the temperatures are cooler and there are no lifeguards at many of the beaches.  Frankly, when I lived in NY, this was the time of year I loved going to the beach - less crowded and not stiflingly hot.

An end????   Not hardly!  Around here "summer" starts to end when school starts in mid August - stores are less crowded, parks are virtually empty, roads aren't as busy (except for when the schools start/let out).  Summer officially ends on Labor day - rivers, lakes, campgrounds and hiking trails empty out as tourists/flatlanders take their motorhomes, trailers, boats, quads, 4-wheelers, dirt bikes (etc.), and head back down to the cities to stay (hooray!).

However, NOW is actually the best time of the year!!  Temperatures range from the mid-upper 50s in the morning to the low-mid 80's in the afternoon (no more 100s!), the local rivers are still running low and are "warm" (no more releases from high mountain lakes), and all the "parking areas" near the rivers, lakes and hiking trails are empty.  All the roads to the back country (BLM lands, state and national forests) are still open and clear (they don't close until the first snow (around November 1), less out-of-state idiots on the road (unfortunately the local ones are here year round), skies are clear (hardly any thunderstorms), and daylight still extends beyond evening.
