Could Hillary Clinton still become president if the electoral college decides to vote for her and ignore their state voters?

We all know voters don't directly vote for president and vice-president. We have representatives that vote in what we call an electoral college, getting two votes from each, one for the president and one for the vice-president. They do not have to vote for the candidate, if they choose not to, even if their state voted for them. This is what our founders decided, in case they needed further assistance to get the candidates they wanted. Is it possible? They vote on Dec. 19.

Yes, she can.  The Electoral College votes on December 19 and they can elect Mrs. Clinton.

That's what they call a faithless elector. Even if they change their vote, it has to be approved. This post was edited by Patchouli at November 13, 2016 8:43 AM MST

    I
think the most misunderstood part of the EC is this:  When the popular vote in a state elects a Republican, the Republican party in that state appoints the number of electors allowed from that state to go in December to vote in the EC.  In  that same state,  had the popular vote elected the Democrat, the Democrat Party would appoint the electors to go and vote in the EC.  The electors are picked by the winning party in the state.  For 37 Republican electors appointed by the state Republican parties to go rogue is much much less than simply "not likely."  Also Clinton has conceded.  If the unimaginable were to happen, the election would be decided by Congress.   We have a President Trump.
