Did you know that people in the many centuries prior thought the same thing?  Yet people keep on having children, knowing that they will be born into an "insane" world.  Yet, children don't see it that way.  When asked, they look forward to growing up to great joy (can't wait to be an adult).  Every generation thinks theirs is the best.  When we look back all we see is what we knew (meaning we can't see back to before we were born).  And we see everything "going downhill".  But so did your parents... as did your parent's parents... as did your parent's parent's parents (and so forth).
In the thousands of years we've been here, people don't change (overall).  Sure, we invent new things", but our actions remain the same.  We think we are better than others {hatred}.  We seek money, power and ambition - at all costs {wars, using other people as stairs/objects}.  We seek to dominate others (abusers).  We think we know more than those who came before us and any who may come after us (arrogance).  If we disagree with others, we seek to do them harm {murders}.  If others have what we want - money, land, possessions, men/women - we forcefully take it from them {theft, adultery}.

No, being born in a certain era isn't disgusting.   The real disgusting "thing" are the uncaring people who hurt others (physically and/or emotionally) in their unending (futile) quest for dominance.
