The early years we lived in Birmingham, AL. It was not the cesspool it is today, but it was a civil rights hotspot. I started high school the first year of integration. The boys had no interest in learning to get along with each other and there were daily fights. The girls, however, learned to enjoy spending time in the gym learning dances and listening to pop music while doing our assigned activities .... softball, kick ball, basketball, track, cheerleading, tumbling, etc.
