Discussion»Statements»Rosie's Corner» Not voting was a copout. No excuses. Unvoters screwed up bigtime. They will never make that up to us.What makes someone a copout?
I'm 79. 4 years is a long time. A lot of havoc can be wreaked in much less than 4 years. I shall never forgive them no matter what. I can't. They did the unforgivable. They didn't vote . Thank you for your reply and Happy Tuesday! :)
I do wonder why people didn't vote.. it's the same here but I would have thought with so much at stake there things would have been different...
There were those who said that the Trump voters turned up in force because those were the type who were easily whipped up to a frenzy.. and there did seem to be that element of appealing to them.. getting certain types fired up...
But why did others not vote..do people need to be fired up to vote? DO they need to have that anger and indignation? I dont know...
Forgive me for asking but were there really only two options? Wasnt there a third even if people thought he didn't stand a chance?
There wre 4 options m'dear. Democrat/Republican/Libertarian/Green Party. Those who voted Libertarian or Green Party wasted their votes. There was never a chance for either of them to win. I don't know how many of the Bernie Sanders supporters refused to support Hillary and either did not vote, voted for a 3rd party candidate or voted for Trump. I expect many of those who didn't vote were disenchanted Democrats. I shall never forgive them. So they didn't love Hillary. I didn't either but I voted for her. Same with my Jim. Same with a lot of our friends and family. We weren't in love with her. We knew she had warts. But my god she isn't a racist/bigot/misogynist/homophobe. PET is the worst of all possible choices. I hope he proves me wrong. I shall apologize here on Answermug if he turns out to be a good president. Right now it doesn't look good. Thank you for your very thoughtful reply Addb and Happy Tuesday to thee. I very much appreciate your interest in our problems. It is very kind of you! :)
Some of the people who didn't vote (accompanied by some other people who did) have already shown they plan to "make up for it" through protesting, rioting, looting, damaging property, assaults and other forms of unrest. They seem to subscribe to the premise that just because they are angry they are right. ~
What makes someone abstain from voting? Usually cynicism about the political process combined with feeling powerless to make a difference.
Each of us is a drop in the ocean. People need to have more awareness of how potent it can be to act as many drops coalescing to creating a tide, even a current which can accumulate long-term and relatively stable results.
One person with great brilliance can achieve much, but so can many acting together.
Each vote counts hartfire. I don't give a rat's a** what inadequate excuse non-voters give it's all bullsh** and inexcusable. Those who voted Libertarian or Green Party wasted their votes. I don't know how many Bernie Sanders supporters voted for Hillary as Bernie asked them to do. Some may have voted 3rd party or for Trump. Many of Bernie's supporters hated Hillary. Hate was not the province of Republicans only. It reared its ugly head among the Democrats too. Shame on those who didn't vote. Shame on them for copping out as they did . I have more to say but I would get banned so I'll just stifle it and think dark thoughts for awhile longer . It's disgusting/disappointing/disheartening/disturbing. SIGH. Thank you for your reply! :)
I cannot understand how anyone could let Trump gain office, but beyond that, if you cannot choose you cannot choose. I could never choose between Huckabee and Gingrich or Palin and Trump. There are LIMITS.
But this was not one of them. Hillary should have been President. We all know it.
