When I didn't buy my apartment because I was a rent stabilized tenant and it was a non-eviction plan, someone bought the shares and he became my landlord. He tried to get me out, but couldn't - he refused to make necessary repairs, refused to make any kind of repairs at all, forcing me to take him to court and he lost every time. Even though I paid my rent to him every month on time, he stopped paying his mortgage and the bank foreclosed him. I called the bank when no one made an offer to buy it at the foreclosure sale and offered them $5,000. They took the offer when they realized they couldn't evict me and without being able to get me out, no one else was going to buy it. This guy deserved it. He knew when he bought the shares in my apartment that I was not going to leave.
