well it's kinda not like that. you almost seem to feel it's somehow related to some submissiveness or inferiority.. keep them barefoot and pregnant like thinking..but it isnt - its just that if you are barefoot you are in touch with the ground..you can feel, you have more freedom.. etc..
and the real thing is.. it's a misnomer.. just as many, if not more women dance in shoes.. more likely is that they were wearing silly high heels, their feet began to hurt. so they took them off.. now if they wore the heels for half the night and not the second.. that doesnt really tell us much other than that their feet hurt..
Men in some ways have less freedom. it wouldbe frowned on to not wear shoes for a man
Unless the man has two left feet, I'd rather be barefoot when dancing. It gives me better grip, balance, and flexibility. Exception is Latin: a slippery leather sole helps with a spin.
