Are you happy with the parents who had you?

I read answers to a question  on here about emotional and physical abuse.  ApPARENTly quite a few muggers had abusive parents.  Did you?  Did you have the opposite experience?

  • Couldn't be happier. My parents were the complete opposite of abusive. Supportive, intelligent, and largely responsible for who I am today. I'm very glad that I still have a great relationship with both of my parents.

  • I wouldn't say abusive, no, but my dad had a temper, and spanked/whacked us. (when we needed it) We all turned out normally, though. :)
Yes, happy with my parents. Love them dearly. This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at December 10, 2016 9:03 PM MST

They are pretty cool. I regret nothing. Well, I regret a lot of things, but it's got nothing to do with them. This post was edited by Zack at December 10, 2016 9:04 PM MST

Very personal question, isn't it, Ishmael?

If life is really about balance, I guess I faired well.

In other words, yes and no, yes and no, yes and no. : )

Yes.  I'm very close to my dad but mom not so much but I kind of think there's not a whole lot I can do about my relationship with mom.

Thanks Livvie.  I have one daughter that seems to look and warm up to me more than the others.  I really appreciate that and I'm sure your dad feels the same way. This post was edited by CallMeIshmael at December 10, 2016 9:11 PM MST

  • Growing up was a mixed bag but I'm happy with them and wouldn't change having them for the world.

I always feel good when I hear that some people are happy with their parents.  My father was very successful in part because he divorced my alcoholic mother when I was one.  She died in an (probably) alcohol-related car accident when I was 15.  I, for one, would have chosen different parents.

To be honest, no. I wish my dad wasn't an alcoholic womanizer. But at least my mom is good.
