Thank you for your answer Glis. Just to be clear, are you saying that that is just your opinion or that the Bible says that people are controlling the world?

Satan is the god of this world.

    2 Cor 4:4
Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.

Yup, not many people that go to a Church know that. Thank you for your answer.

We had a sermon series on "Putting on the Full Armor of God" that included how Satan rules on earth and attacks us. This post was edited by my2cents at February 26, 2019 3:21 AM MST

  • The link you offered is prejudiced. I doubt that the Jehovah's Witnesses have many clues. They're nearly as whacked as the Mormons.

I'm kind of out-of-touch so I can't say whether the Bible gives control of the Earth to Satan or God (though he wouldn't be much of a god if he was unable to give Satan the rounds of the kitchen). I do know that it says "the meek shall inherit the earth." Maybe they're the controllers, at least in embryo.

Too bad that your bias, fear, prejudice or whatever isn't allowing you to go to look up the verses in the link, otherwise you wouldn't have had to say " kind of out-of-touch so I can't say whether the Bible gives control of the Earth to Satan or God". Jehovah's Witnesses are encouraging Bible reading and Bible education.

  • The fact it isn't a link might be the issue.

It isn't a clickable link but it is a link that can be copy and pasted into your browser.

    Nice parroting Glis.
Edit: Glis, which translation do you consider to be the most accurate based on the oldest and most accurate manuscripts? This post was edited by texasescimo at December 13, 2016 7:22 AM MST

  • I apologize.   Actually I saw Didge's post talking about Mormons and my early morning brain fog thought you were talking as a  Mormon instead of JW.

I too apologize Glis. I am a fool to be so easily offended. People get JW's and Mormons confused quite often.
(Ecclesiastes 7:9) Do not be quick to take offense, for the taking of offense lodges in the bosom of fools.

There are verses quoted here that are taken straight from the Bible. I quoted the KJV.

  • So if you're out of touch, where do you get off saying anybody else is whacked, whatever that means?

  • Wow! So much activity to wake up to!

I suppose I should join the apologies and add my own but perhaps, instead, I'll just apologise for the pejorative way I posted that answer.

It was my intention to point out that the "link"was from the Jay Dubs, a group who are infamous for pushing their ideas down other people's throats. While it's true that they're pretty "whacked out" it was an unkindness to say so. Comparing them to the Mormons (another group of professional proselutisers) isn't too far off the mark, although which of them is the strangest is anybody's guess.

You might do well to follow the example of the first century rulers who said:
(Acts 28:22) But we think it proper to hear from you what your thoughts are, for truly as regards this sect, we know that it is spoken against everywhere.”

  • Thanks, but I don't live in the first century. I'd rather use the ensuing 2,000 years of learning.

The scriptures were written in the first century and they foretold an apostasy after the death of the apostles until the time of the end. Is your learning only from the time of the apostasy? Catholic?

  • There are many "scriptures" from the various religions which predate the Christian mythology. My "learning" as you put it is the outcome of a lifetime of curiosity about all manner of things. It is based on reason rather than superstition.

But Catholic? Well, I was made an honorary Catholic for 21 hours when the local church had need of my expertise in a particular area, but no, I've never been a Catholic. I was raised among the born-agains, a handicap I would never inflict on my own children.

Since you seemed to be biased against JW's and Mormons and you spoke of 2,000 years of learning I kinda assumed you might be Catholic. Well ya know what they say about assume.

The bible says that Satan the devil and his demonic forces have a deadly  grip on earthly matters. (revelation 12:7-12; 1john 5:19)
