Not dumpster diving, but similar ... Here we have council cleanups .. throw ask the stuff thug don't want to the sidewalk and they pick up what's left after everyone has gone through it :)... And yes ... I've found some amazing stuff
Sounds like fun. I've done it once or twice, but it was a long time ago. There was a hamburger restaurant that had a promotion going with pull tabs on the boxes the burgers came in. I went to the dumpster one night and found a LOT that the tab hadn't been pulled on. I pulled them and found a bunch of coupons for free burgers, fries and even some money. I didn't have to buy any burgers for quite a while.
There's a movement in Britain land dedicated to this very thing. I think there was a cafe opened which served only stuff that had been reclaimed from supermarket bins. There was nothing wrong with the it. It's just the stigma of rummaging in a bin but as has been pointed out, if the 'stuff' is fit for consumption and sealed in something it's ridiculous that it should be thrown away just to satisfy the demand for turnover and profit facilitated by expiration dates. Foolish.
That's awesome! We need something like that here. I've seen in some of the videos that they give some to the food banks and they give some items to shelters.
Personally no. But I know some people who hae found some nice pieces of furniture like coffee tables or end tables next to the dumpster, that were really nice.
I still have an old 1920s early plastic desk lamp I found Someone had thrown out ... Rather chuffed with that :)

Yep. When my roommates and I were moving into our new house sophomore year of college, we did the rounds of the student apartment dumpsters and looked for items. A couple of us actually did climb in the dumpster. Found some good stuff too :)
