I just got a brand new food dehydrator.....

Any suggestions on which fruits do the best?

  • Not so much on what types dry best.  Most do well that I tried.  Except melons.  Melons don't work so good.
The best advice I can say is watch what fruits you dry together.  Some fruits will add some smell and flavor to the others if dried together.  Bananas are a perfect example.  If you dry banana slices with say grapes.   Your raisins will come out with a faint banana scent and taste.

My rule of thumb is if the fruit has a smell that puts a slight taste in the air, then dry it alone. Bananas, peaches,  those kinds of things.

Apricots.  I really like dehydrated apricots.  But leave them soft and juicy and send them express mail.  Thanks.
