Australians who have visited the US comment on how inward looking the country is. Whether in cosmopolitan New York or small country towns, the news and media have far more local than international content. American news only reports the things abroad that directly affect American interests.
I don't know if this is true, because I've never visited the US, but I've been hearing it said by different people for over thirty years.
Many other countries, including Australia, have very wide international coverage. We regard knowing what's happening elsewhere as intrinsically interesting, but also a matter of survival.

I'm feeling a bit patriotic ( sp) tonight's :) I'm not American but all those who shizatt on Canada can kiss my flat azz :pand I like you're other profile pic that looks like that joker's friend buffed out ,... Can you use that one then ? i can't think of name ;)
I'm an Aussie. Have travelled a little in South-east Asia, a fair bit in Europe (forty years ago), and unfortunately no where else. But based on those brief tastes, even though I enjoyed them, I'm happiest here in Australia. What I hear on the world news and documentaries tends to confirm that feeling.
