Discussion»Questions»Home and Garden» If I leave a whole, intact pumpkin in my garden, will it break down and grow new vines on its own in time for next Halloween?
It appears as though it would be better for you if you just planted the seeds. http://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/vegetables/pumpkin/pumpkin-growing.htm
That pumpkin is dead, to grow nothing. Your best hope are the seeds passing into the soil.

In your garden? That would depend on whether or not the rotted, festering, decomposing cadavers fertilize properly.
(Don't even think it: I've prepared several "Open immediately in case of my sudden and/or suspicious death" letters and distributed them all over the place. One step ahead of you.) ~
