Do you typically get a yearly flu shot?

I have for years now, as I live with a diabetic sister, and they say to get it if you live with someone with a lower immune system, but is it effective? Do you think it can be harmful or overall is healthful ?

Nope, I hate shots. I rarely get sick anyway. The most I ever get is just a cold.

  • Nah ....I'm neither pro or con flu shots....I Just don't have time to go sit around for half an hour and waits for some doctor to shove something in me.....Unless he's gonna buy me dinner first ;)

  • I do not. I just had a doctor's appointment a few days ago and it was being pushed on me, but I didn't end up getting it.

  • The shot ... you get, whether it works or not.  The flu, shot or no shot, is a maybe.

  • They're free at work, so yes. I hate needles, so I make sure they understand the amount of distress it puts on my system by wailing uncontrollably before, during and after the shot.

I've never had a flu shot and the last time I had the flu was when I was 24 - I'm 71.  I know they push the shots on the young and those over 65, but I have a really good immune system and don't get sick very often.  Also, when they make the flu vaccine, they're guessing at the strain that it's supposed to deal with.  Last year, they were very wrong - it was only 20% effective.  With such low odds, I'll bet on my own immune system.

  • Nah.   If I die from the flu then it's my time to go.
