A man burns down a Black church in MI, spray paints Vote Trump on it. But the Fire Marshall says it was not political? What?

The arsonist is a black man and member of the church...... Should it matter? Would this make it not a political motivation?

There is not enough information in the article to determine the perpetrator's actual motives.

But that was enough information when it happened to blame Trump supporters....

In Mississippi, Hopewell Baptist Church in Greenville, an 111 year old black church, was set on fire with the words “Vote Trump” spray painted on the side of the building.

Local police are treating this arson and vandalism as a hate crime and an attempt to intimidate voters of color in that state.

@m2c -- If a 7/11 reports a burglary and there are two suspects, a 19-year-old with baggy pants and a backwards baseball cap, and 45-year-old insurance salesman in a suit, whom do you think the police are going to spend most of their time investigating? Yep, the young guy who fits "the profile."

The burning down of black churches is historically largely the work of white supremacists, and people with white supremacists leanings voted overwhelmingly for Der Pumpkinfurher over HRC.

It is NOT unreasonable to infer that the suspect in the Hopewell Church fire is likely a white supremacist/Trump supporter. If evidence reveals that not to be the case, then we can revise our inferences accordingly.

If your ACTUAL complaint is that Trump supporters who are NOT violent white supremacists get lumped in with the ones who are, my reply to you is...well, it would violate the TOS...but it rhymes with SCHMUP SCHYOURS SMCHUCKING SCHIMPOCRITE! The political left in the USA has lonnnnng been demonized by association with horrible behaviors of nominally "leftist" regimes in the Soviet Union, China, Cambodia, Cuba, etc.

Why is it suddenly nonpolitcal? The statement vote Trump makes it political. No matter which side is using such disgusting tactics.

It's not hypocrisy because you deserve it and we don't.

Trumpism is not white supremacy and it doesn't lead to white supremacy. They are distinct philosophies. A person either believes in the intrinsic superiority of one race over another or they don't.

Socialism is a spectrum. There is no fundamental difference between a socialist and communist. It's just a question of degree. Neither believe in private property and other individual rights. While the average American liberal isn't a communist (yet), they still deserve contempt because their beliefs lead to communism in a chain reaction. The more socialism screws everything up, the more pretext for further collectivization of wealth to alleviate human suffering.

  • I wonder if you would have posted this had the arsonist being white. I think that's your real point.

No my real point is what I posted. My subpoint is that this is one of the hate crimes that were counted against the Trump supporters.

  • Oh it's very political but people will tell you it isn't to cover for their political counterparts. And I'm sorry to put it like this rather bluntly but a black person doesn't spray paint "Vote Trump" and burn down his own church just you know for no reason. I don't believe in "coincidence" in this situation.

As for the investigators and other people saying this isn't political. Their opinion would actually be valid of course if there wasn't big spray painted letters that said "vote Trump" and then several news outlets hadn't reported it as if Trump supporters actually did it. But the media did report it as fact.

But then again I'm not surprised. The trauma soaked victims of Chalkgate: Trump 2016 sparked massive college students to hurl in the counselors office and cry and tell them they needed counseling after seeing ominous Trump 2016 chalkings all over campus:
