How is it that...

Paleontology tells us that our minds evolved chiefly under pressure to survive in the African veldt just long enough to raise our offspring to reproductive maturity -which is to say, about 25 years. But we've developed a culture, including math and science, that enables us not only to ask bout the origin and destiny of the Universe, but actually to answer at least one of those questions -i.e., the Big Bang. Does this not strike you not only as awesome, but also as pretty mysterious?

Offspring would have been reproductive much earlier than 25, so this holds no water.

Assuming you're right -although I'm referring narrowly to h. sapiens- you actually strengthen my point. I think you misunderstood me. Sorry.

  • We're a small creature that has shown itself capable of great things.  Sadly, not all of them good, but I live in hope.  :)
