I just read about his death this morning in the news. I was taken aback and surprised.
One of my first thoughts was, for as much flack they/he got for the song, I think "Wake me up Before You Go Go " is a fun song!
    :)
I like some of his music, though, I admit, I'm probably unfamiliar with a lot of it.
I didn't know he seemed to have as much challenges in his life as were reported in the news article. This post was edited by WelbyQuentin at December 27, 2016 9:40 PM MST

I'm adding another answer, I guess.
As the day goes on, I'm realizing I liked this guy and his music a lot more than I thought.

thoughts of life and death have been on my mind in recent months and my thoughts range in wide ways -- sadness, humor, serenity, being solemn, laughing/being grateful for the person/me. My thoughts keep changing a bit about it all, not just with George but with anyone. And I see a range of answers you've received, too, righty1.
Be well, my friend. I enjoy seeing you on the site every time, regardless, even of this sad subject of your question.
    :)

Thanks for two answers, bud. His music was good, I guess. I like some of his songs, and some of them I don't like. But...I do understand why he has such a superstar status...he was creatively gifted. The biggest thing that stands out about him, from reading comments by those who knew him, is that they all mention what a nice guy he was to be around, and how kind and charitable he was. Which reminds me of Freddie Mercury. He's going to be missed by many.

Always a pleasure to see you, too, Welby! :)

I mourn for his loved ones and I think he may have had more to offer the musical world. I think he was a gifted songwriter.
