If you really want to communicate with someone, picking up the phone and dialing a number is quite easy.

  • I'll never understand using social media just to talk to a real life friend  who lives around the corner.

I have hearing issues though, so I don't really like talking over the phone. It's incredibly difficult for me to understand what people are saying and they always have to repeat themselves and talk slowly and it's embarrassing for me..

I spend a lot of time on the phone at work, so when I come home, all I want is peace and quiet.  Those with whom I usually communicate are in the same boat, so when we use email, it means the person on the other end can answer if and when it's convenient rather than being interrupted at an inopportune time for a phone call.
