I would never pretend to know someone that I don't have a personal, regular banter with. Anyone that thinks they know a celebrity or someone famous, even after reading their autobiography, is deluded at best.
I'm drawn to those whose interests/likes mirror mine. My favorite movie actor is Humphrey Bogart. My favorite music is jazz and classical. My favorite literary genre is science fiction. I am fascinated by quantum physics and have many books on the subject though no formal education. I love to cook. If I encounter someone who is mad about Bogie there is an immediate connection on my part. So I guess I disagree with thee PeaPod. So what, right? Thank you for your reply and Happy Friday. My favorite non-human "celebrity" is Yoda. I have a small plaster statue of Yoda that my sister painted for me after we saw Star Wars and I fell in love with "him" on the spot! There are many others things that draw me to certain people. And so on and so on and so on. :)
I'm pretty good at knowing people... picking up how they feel and think.. even the two who betrayed me horribly - I knew they had fractures and that those things were a danger... I knew they had that potential.. I just hoped they wouldn't... Aside from that yea ... I know people.. It takes more than just knowing their fav film, book etc.. but you can know someone, especially if you are someone who is very intuitive.
So have I been wrong... well yea, as above.. I really did think that particularly one wouldn't betray me so horribly... even tho I knew he had a specific weakness and insecurity.. I was once wrong not to trust someone.. i didn't meet him because he used aggressive language... It took a long while after that but we did meet.. and I am sure he wouldn't have posed a danger in any way - he was just frustrated that I wouldn't meet him sooner..
I've had a few very bad/disappointing experiences. One especially I never saw coming and could never have imagined in a zillion years. And I was wrong to think that! We go on and try our best to make sense of it or least accept what is and try to move on. Thank you for your thoughtful reply DdbTD and Happy Friday to thee! :)
I don't think any of those things are very telling of who someone is.
Some people are more transparent than others. Most people (the interesting ones, at least) are multi-dimensional, and it takes a lot of time to really get to know them. Many people don't really know themselves and don't want to. Some people are very good at wearing masks.
I guess I really don't know how to answer. People are fascinating, complex creatures.
You don't need to tell "all of the truth" all of the time. But what you do tell should be true all of the time shouldn't it? Thank you for your reply Sbf and Happy Friday! :)
