Why are DJs/ producers taking primary credit for songs nowadays?

There are a ton of songs getting released as "by (name of random DJ/ Producer nobody knows), featuring (name of star/ mega star who is singing the song)."

I'm still stuck in the 80s; I don't know anything about music being released these days.

  • Way back music was artist oriented, you know? Some guy with a guitar and a microphone. As time went music got more "produced", with boards and electronics and it became manufactured, so now the artist is just part of that, as opposed to the other way around. Oh, when house music started and the DJ was born, there wasn't even a singer, only a hipe man.
