I know, I know... It's not about US or Russia this time, interesting enough for you to take part in? Why/why not?

  • The "right" thing to do would to go all out to protect the Great Barrier Reef but when it comes to sources of fuel? The "right" thing to do usually goes out the window.

  • It's been a contentious issue for years. Commercial interests pay scant regard to any aspect of the environment when hunting for profits and the Reef has suffered along the way. Of course it's disgraceful but money buys politicians in Oz just as easily as in the rest of the world.

Why it's a subject worth giving some attention. I read a study that said majority of the Australians are willing to prioritise the Reef on the costs of coal mining. However, neither of the political blocks truly have understood this. Meh.

  • Completely correct, SH. Our politicians are an unistinguished bunch -- particularly over the past five or ten years -- and the mining companies hold much control.

Should make a platform for the green, or how does it go? A lot will depend on how important a subject it is to the voters.
