How do YOU handle a heat wave?

Yesterday in my area the temperature peaked at 44C (111F) and for the second time in a few days our electricity power station burned out leaving everybody blacked out. The fire brigade arrived and the hazmat guys were on the job. We took the car for a drive to use it's air conditioning but I got less than an hour's sleep during the night.

How do you handle it?

  • I was more worried about my dog. She's very old and it could have finished her off. We could have spent an hour or two in a shopping mall but since we couldn't take er, we couldn't go either. It's rare to get those temperatures around here -- we get close but not quite that high.

  • Always a good idea. At least, having no electricity didn't stop us from taking cold showers.

Ugh I don't do well in either extreme heat or cold.  I'm too old for both extremes!  lol

I guess I handle it like everyone else. When you got things to do, you just do it without regard to what the weather is.

    You in inland Australea ?

Anyways for heat my recipe is to go swimming. Even near the coast the water rarely get over 25 Celcius.

  • POOL :D

California has occasional 105 degree+ heat waves, triple digit temps are no stranger to me. If there is water that I can climb into, I'm good.

During the summer I often like to go outside and read. But when the heat waves hit, it's too hot, even in the shade. So one time I sat out in the backyard in my underwear and read lol
