If winning is the only thing and it doesn't matter how what message are we sending to our kids? Have we abandoned truth/honor? WHY?

  • If we believed that winning is the only thing and we instilled it into our kids as one of life's principles they would probably grow into adults who were economically successful but emotionally bankrupt.

When Leo Durocher (almost) said, "Nice guys finish last" he elevated success above morality.

I guess it's a Leo Durocher world then isn't it Didge?  Who was it who said "winning isn't everything. It's the only thing". Or "All is fair in love and war" except that is extended to cover "do what you want to do how you want to do it" far beyond just the areas of love and war. Or "do what you want to do and apologize later" or "the end justifies the means" All we have to offset all that crap is "do the right thing". That's it!.  Many adults are definitely emotionally bankrupt and as such that is what they pass on to their children. How could it be otherwise? You can't give others what you don't have. Thank you for your reply and Happy Sunday!  :)
