  • I remain cautiously optimistic, however, the new president missed a great opportunity to deliver an address that would be both inspirational and a gauge of the aspirations of the next four years. What was given was a warmed over campaign speech that was out of place and inappropriate for the moment.

  • Actually, according to 538, his speech was pretty upbeat compared to some. Incoming party changes usually include a more dire tone (if I'm reading the chart right). I also appreciate the use of "we". I had a boss that said "I" all the time and drove me nuts.
