Sorry, America, I don't want to add to your woes, but how did you ever vote for a twittermouse?

Does President Trump intend to conduct his duties through Twitter rather than the Oval Office? What kind of buffoon would tweet such a challenge and expect any reaction other than the one it provoked.

It was clear, even before the election, that this man was incapable of fulfilling the duties of president but I really didn't expect him to go into free fall this quickly. Does the GOP have any control over him or will he take the party down with him?

Here's a clip from today's news.

Didge, you would be surprised at how many people are or will be behind him on this.  Just like Trump, they don't have any understanding of or concern about diplomacy & foreign affairs. They will be happy he is taking such a tough stance on this issue.

  • Yeah. Unfortunately I understand that, Harry. Equally unfortunately he's likely to set America's foreign relations back by many decades -- and not just with Mexico. It's an enormous worry.

Symbol politics from the side of Trump. He knows he will have his supporters and voters behind him, still. They will find excuses why this is a okay. Smh.

  • Probably, but that won't help when the smelly stuff hits the fan.

He will only bully those who are weaker. That's how bullies work. They will kiss up to those that are stronger. Do I need to say more? Only question is if he will keep underestimating China and their true power.

  • LOL you should be careful posting political stuff about Trump.. or you will become an outcast like me :P

Seriously though I don't get it either.. the man is an incompetent buffoon.. almost everyone can see that.. but apparently the Trump supporters cannot.. and of course Trump cannot see it.. and I've mentioned specifically his inability to deal with world leaders, on the international stage .. I said from the start that he will alienate world leaders and isolate the US still further...

I genuinely don't get why the supporters see things differently.. I wish I understood.. but I don't... it seems illogical...  my working hypothesis at the moment is to do with conspiracy theories/theorists and the ability to believe *alternative facts*.

  • Yeah, I realise that I'm going to upset a few friends, but even his supporters will be forced to realise, sooner or later, that they've made a catastrophic mistake. The GOP are going to have to find a way to disassociate themselves from him or he'll them down too.

Didge, it is my belief the GOP are just waiting.  They don't like him just as much as the Democrats don't like him.  All the career politicians feel he is a loose cannon.  Right now, it is a wait & see game.  I believe when there is something to hang him with, they will use it and he will be impeached.  The GOP would love Mike Pence to take over.  Frankly, I fear him more than Trump.  He may be fine with foreign affairs but he is much too conservative for my taste.

  • Pence does look like a shoo in and I doubt that it will take long. The trick will be to get him into the job before Trump does irrefutable damage.

Haven't heard anyone calling anyone an outcast because they post an intelligent, interesting, and/or humorous question about Trump. I believe there's room for everyone, no? I've now seen you make such remarks on several occasions now, may I suggest you use the feedback/report options given on every page here should you feel you've been attacked. All mu best.

  • Thank you for your concern.. you are a lovely member.. I cannot really talk about what happened, it's very awkward.. and I don't want to make anything worse.. and I don't want to make a fuss... it's hard to find a way to explain without making it worse but it isn't *people* on here.. for the most part they are lovely.. but I have been made to feel an outcast, unwelcome.. and I guess I didn't realise it but it must be coming out in my posts.. sorry for that - I've always been someone who finds it hard to hide things..  it is what it is and I think ultimately I have limited options but to just tolerate it.. it's fine.. don't worry.

Daydream, my posts on the political boards haven't won me too many friends.  Please, do not take anything that has happened on here to heart.  I know this is easy to say but, shake it off girl, shake it off!  (Even before Taylor Swift wrote that, it has always been the way I have lived my life).  If someone isn't involved in your day to day affairs, in the scheme of things, they just aren't really that important. I'm sure you have more friends here than detractors and if there is someone specific on here you are concerned you might have involuntarily insulted, if you haven't been given a severe warning, I'm sure it has been forgotten.  If there is someone on here that you don't like or that you feel doesn't like you, ignore them.  I can see that you are very heartfelt in your opinions.  We are ALL entitled to them.  And, no one here, NO ONE, can say that you aren't or can deny you the right to speak it.

Chin up.  Sometimes I have a tendency to speak (write) before thinking.  I'm sure I will surpass any faux pas you think you might have made!

  • Thanks, SH. I had to resort to that last week over something else but it's not something I make a habit of. I can take my share of flak, especially the kind that's likely to be fired over this.

Daydream, they don't see things differently as much as they too are isolationists (some without even realizing it).

You would be surprised at how many people here don't care about anything that isn't going on in their own backyard.  They are scrambling to make ends meet and are only concerned about their own immediate welfare.

Early in his candidacy they thought they had some control, then they learned better.

But no, he will not take the party down with him. Once a political party becomes 'a religion' it can not be 'taken down'. Even GWB did not manage that with his several trillion dollars worth of fiscal irresponsibility. At most it may quietly be forgotten over a couple of generations. • I hope you're right. I wouldn't subscribe to many of the GOP's policies but any country needs (at least) two effective parties if it's to be governed properly.

And therin lies the rub of it. how can a 3rd huge party appear to replace the GoP in the US where the competition is so stiff? It kinda looks like a deadlocked situation to me. This post was edited by JakobA the unAmerican. at January 26, 2017 4:47 PM MST
