Funny thing about the sky. It looks blue, but there's a lot more to it than that. When you understand the science behind it, you understand why it appears to be blue most of the time.
The reason why it's blue is because of the blue light that passes through the sun to the sky. The wave length of blue is short so that's why is easier to scatter than the red wave length. The shorter the wave length the stronger it is. When the sun is setting the wave lengths get longer be cause the sun the source of light is leaving.
The common Bluejay actually has black feathers that appear blue in sunlight.
