Sure. When I was younger. I wasn't much good but I could do the basic stuff. They've advanced so far these days you practically need a B.Sc to be a mechanic.
Yep, for a few years I supplemented my meagre earnings and helped to pay art college fees by fixing Ford Cortinas and Anglias (yes, I know that none of you have ever heard of these cars)
And I was (vaguely) good with carburettors (subtract a "t" if you live in a country that cannot spell. :)
I concur with Didge, I still understand how engines work, but I have no idea what is going on in all the little boxes under my bonnet (hood), but the big one in the middle is probably an engine.

Yes, I know something about vehicles after almost 35 years of experience in Mechanical,Collision and Painting. Graphics and restorations also. Depends on your vehicle what kind of carb you have. Need make, year, model. This is my first Rod I built. 34 Ford Five window. I'm standing there with a beer in my hand in the blue vest. Yes, I know cars and engines.

I have fixed low tires by putting air in them. ;) With a hand pump. True. It is still in my car. People don't believe that but I've used that pump many times through the years.
