Discussion»Statements»Rosie's Corner» When you block refugees from entering your country and they go back to their country and are killed are you responsible? Why?
If a homeless person knocks on your door and wants to stay, but can't speak English, or even verify who they are and you say no. And they go away and are killed by another homeless person. Is it your fault?
So, your commentary is directed at those who cannot speak English. The story is so rife with prejudice that you even have the killer in the story be a refugee from another place. In other words "THEM". Not US.
If a homeless person knocked on my door, NO MATTER WHO IT IS, I would fashion my reply depending on the situation. If it was a starving woman with children? Do you care if no English is spoken? I do not.
I would make sure someone could care for them. There a phone numbers to call. There is a place where they can wait outside until someone comes for them. Some reach out group somewhere.
So, yes it is your fault. But it is not against the law. You claim to be close to God. Do you think God is not watching? Let him judge your actions.
You are not obligated. You are not outside the law, but in your heart you would know if you were thinking of yourself just a little too much and not enough on making the situation less dangerous for all concerned
I said could not speak English because the immigrants from these countries (which is the topic) generally cannot speak English. And I used the another homeless person as the killer because that is who would kill the immigrants other people from their own country. Yes in our country we have other services that we use to help.
We have a plan for the ME...we are going to establish safe zones for the people there. It keeps them safe and keeps us safe.
That is not an analogous situation at all m2c. During the holocaust The United States of America refused to accept 900 Jewish refugees who were fleeing extermination. The ship turned back and many if not all of those people were put to death. I did not know that. It haunts me. Where/when/for whom do you draw the line when it comes to giving sanctuary to such people. Thank you for your reply.
Why is it not? Yes I knew about the Jews not allowed in. But there is one bigly difference, Jewish people do not have history of coming to other countries and blowing things up....

I learned that during the holocaust The United States of America refused to accept 900 Jewish Refugees on a ship who were fleeing extermination. They went back and many if not all of them were put to death. That haunts me Nanoose. Where/when/for whom do you provide sanctuary? What is the right thing to do? Thank you for your reply and Happy Monday to you! :)
The answer is yes. And we should all be outraged by the order to ban Muslims who are here legally. It is not legal and it is no way to start out running the country.
Here's the backstory behind the question Lulu'sMom. I just learned recently that during the Holocaust the United States of America refused to let a ship carrying 900 Jewish Refugees land. They turned it back. Many if not all those people were put to death. That is a very sad thing. Now Syrian refugees are banned from coming here for sanctuary so we are in effect putting them to death just as we did decades ago to the Jewish refugees. I can't accept a United States that would do that yet it happened and it continues to happen. It is so very sad. Thank you for your reply and Happy Monday! :)
Rosie, have you seen the movie, "Voyage of the Damned?" It is the true story about a ship load of Jewish people trying to escape from Germany to Cuba in 1939 and were denied entry not only from Cuba but from any country. Finally some did take some of them, but we were not one of them. And the rest were sent back to Germany to die. I do agree that we do need to vet people who want to enter this country, but when the have already been vetted and have the paperwork and green cards to prove that they are legal citizens, they should have never been held or sent back. I can't believe that anyone with half a brain would support these actions. Thank God most of Americans do not.
During the Holocaust the United States of America refused to let a ship carrying 900 Jewish refugees land. They turned the ship back. Many if not most of those people were put to death. That is why I asked this question.Your question is completely irrelevant and not responsive.
I cannot prevent anyone from indulging in paranoia m2c. Equating refugees with terrorists is paranoid in my opinion. I AM entitled to my opinion am I not.
Of course you are entitled to your opinion. But you should look into these countries....they support terrorism. They don't help us in our fight against terror. If we cannot vet them properly (and we cannot), we know there will be terrorists who will take advantage of the open door to refugees. In fact they have openly said it was an opportunity to get in. It is a temporary ban until we can figure a way to vet them properly so the terrorists cannot get in with the people who need help.
These questions are foolish, since you would let them in, and one killed your daughter, would you feel responsible? I would think vetting would be a safe thing to do if you were responsible for the safety of our people like our President wouldn't you? Decisions sure are easy when someone else has to make them isn't it? Trump is doing what Obama COULDN'T OR WOULDN'T. Have a nice day. MAGA.
Perhaps they are foolish in your eyes TomT. Which makes you foolish for answering them does it not?

Here is the backstory behind that question Thriftymaid. I did not know that during the holocaust America turned away a ship containing 900 Jewish refugees who were fleeing extermination. They went back home and many of them were put to death. That haunts me. I didn't know. Perhaps you did. I didn't. I know we cannot be responsible for all the refugees in the world. But where /when do you draw the line? Thank you for your reply.
