Susan Stebbing ("Thinking to Some Purpose") called that "potted thinking". My mother was full of them and believed each one to be true, even if they were contradictory.
I prefer to depend on reason, knowledge, information and experience. How well I do that is anybody's guess but it seems to work for me.
"Potted"? Dotty? I dunno Didge. Some folks keep flinging quotations at me as if that is the be-all and end-all to the conversation. Book titles. What "experts" say. If my experience is in direct opposition to what the experts say then all it signifies is bullsh ** to me. Bullsh** does not impress me. I don't care who said it! Thank you for your reply m'dear! :)
