They get up to all sorts of shenanigans. Wily little buggers rearrange themselves, morph into entirely new words and even slip right off the post sometimes! Never, ever trust them. :)
Squirrels are suspicious of other squirrels. Especially over their nuts. Who knows, they may also have a version of the "Suspicious Minds" song in squirrel language that they all sing together in their trees. There may even be a squirrel equivalent of Elvis, also. Look out for squirrels with quiffs! It could be him!
Dakota, my dog, can be suspicious of certain people especially if he senses I'm on edge. Of course, if I'm on edge then his suspicion is followed by a short growl or two as a warning I guess. Otherwise, he'll just keep his eyes on the person until he's satisfied the person is ok.
Suspicious or cautious is how animals are especially in the wild or they wouldn't survive for long. Antelope are suspicious of the same lake they have been drinking out of since birth. Why? There could be a croc lying in wait just beneath the surface.
Not just interesting but true. You are asking is fear only in humans? Of course not. Suspicion is fear based. Fear of the unknown that is wired into our brains deep down to the level of instinct.
