Do sober adults who lie and cheat ever change?

My ex tried to change, but right after we had an argument she went right back to being distant and shady.
I'll never trust her again, but I'm curious if any other couples ever legit made it work after infidelity?
Not alcohol related, just straight up, nasty doesn't care, selfish cheater with kids at home, do they change?

  • Sometimes people can change.... I think everyone deserves a second chance. I've needed a few second chances myself.
