  • Hmm that doesn't come into the category of lighthearted in my book. It's a very dangerous thing to say as a joke.

  • I think that there has been already precedents in which the President of the United States has sent troops into many places without an actual declaration of war, no?
As scary as it sounds im pretty sure, if Trump wanted he could send troops wherever he wanted.

  • I know im going to be the unpopular one, but I have found myself thinking the same even before He became president. I mean, what's it going to take? Obviously the cartels dominate the country of Mexico. You may say that it is not our problem, but it is, only if considering the drug and human trafficking, that would still be enough reason to send Pena Nieto, a strong message. You know? Get your sh**, together or I will. No?

  • The problem i have with this as a non American is this... it's America that has the drug problem.... it's effects are manifest in Mexico...

  • Is it just the USA or all Western nations?
Mexican cartels are even pushing into Asia.

  • What you say is true re pushing into Asia.. but it's i believe the American love of illicit drugs ... the American government attitude towatds prohibition of such drugs and the Mexican ability to supply the demand that is the problem ... don't ask me fir an answer as i don't have one

  • Wasn't really looking for one to be honest just throwing it out there.

Drug prohibition is just stupid all around.  I really wish someone could come with a tangible defense of it just once. Just one good thing that has ever come about it or one example if it making anything safer.

Drug use is all over world, weak minded people use them because they can't face reality, they see the world thru a fog called liberalism.

  • To TomThumb and Bhwilson - you are absolutely entitled to your opinion but facts are facts and opinions really don't override that and the fact is, that very often the biggest drug offenders/trafficers/users tend to be very rich people.. like here, often it's the sons and daughters of the most privileged - go figure but since we know that those types tend to vote conservative.. that kinda messes with your accusations about almost everything being connected to liberalism. In fact it's almost like that phrase has in some quarters replaced the paranoia over reds under the bed... Not accusing anyone of anything here, just saying i find it utterly bemusing and illogical.. I agree with Lago it does kinda detract from your points when you seem to blame every ill upon liberalism without any real basis.  Just saying respectfully

  • You know Tom, you usually have good points and insights. But then you go nuts.on the liberal thing. And that's when you lose me. Im sure you lose others too. I know, non of my business. Just saying.

I'm just saying it as I see it, it's a fact that liberalism is behind many of our problems in schools, colleges,  Hollywood, California, Drug problems,  don't mean anything by it, just my view.

  • What, are you really saying that the drug problem created by the traffic, is not actually the traffickers fault.it is actually the Americans putting Mexico in the unfair situation of having to sell drugs to them?
    Really?

  • The drug problem and the cartel problem are really just a symptom of the real problem.  The War on Drugs. The cartels only exist because of that one thing alone.

  • Yes... another war that won't be won... that had huge collateral damage and inflicts a huge price on society

  • Of course it won't.  There's no logic or possibility of it.  It's just like the War on Terror or the War on Poverty.   You lose the moment you try and declare "War" on a thing or a concept. It's logical impossibility right from the get go. Who are you actually declaring war on because you can only go to war with people. Fact!
It has done nothing but created more harm and damage for society and people  than the drugs ever have on their own. People keep chugging along with it because someday their precious little Johnny might decide to try one and that's everybody else problem and fault but them and Johnny's.

  • Relax Rosie,
Are you only nice to me when I agree with you and tell you how great and funny your questions are? Do you only cater to those who agree with you. Sounds like your guy Trump there yourself.
I bet you don't live by the border, I bet you don't know the.plight of the desaparecidos.
I bet you are outraged at Trumps.latest actions against the refugees, but have no problem with the terror that Mexican citizens live with everyday. Judges, journalists, everyday killings and kidnappings.
So your heart bleeds for the human rights of the poor civilians of Libya, and Syria, and by God , we should interfere, but not the Mexicans? Give me a brake

  • I find Rosie's questions intelligent and thought provoking and I have never seen her be anything other than nice and respectful - just saying.  You and I Lago agree on some and disagree on others - it's not usually anything we ever get to the point of being unkind to each other. I personally felt you were sailing a a tad close to the wind there with some of your comments though in terms of perhaps inadvertently putting words into Rosie's mouth about her motivations and feelings about civilians be they refugee or other? Maybe?
But anyway, I did want to ask about one thing I picked out... the Mexican civilians and Trump's latest actions - do you think that building a wall, blaming the Mexicans etc. will improve their lives? Will it help them reduce terror, killings, kidnappings and poverty? I think that would be my counter argument there.. that nothing Trump is planning or doing is going to help them either. Yes?
